Researching a company for an interview

It is important to research a company before an interview to help you answer any questions they may ask you, and so it shows you are interested in the in their company. Doing this, also helps you decide if it is a company you want to be a part of.

Here are the main things you will need to research about the company:

How long they have been running?

How large is the company?

What the products and/or services?

Who are their customers?

What reputation it has?

What is its’ industry standing?

Where are the companies head quarters located?

Who are their major competitors?

Read company blogs, if there are any. These are usually controlled by the management, but you may be able to read between the lines and get a feel for the environment they work in.

Click on the websites “about us” page, see how many women employees they have, and how many minorities work there.

Find out their short and long term business objectives

How has the company resolved any problems they may have had?

Have any employees recently been “laid off”

Find out the managers backgrounds

What training programs to the company offer?

Or, if you know someone who works for the company ask them for information.
